Perth Gaming Crew (PGC) is the brainchild of two mates who share a passion for gaming and podcasts.
Seeing that the people of Perth in Australia were clearly deprived of their very own gaming podcast, PGC's founding crew members Jon and Pat kicked off the PGC show in the summer of 2023, with the dream that one day someone other their own family members might actually care to tune in.
Covering all things gaming, from the latest games the crew is playing, to spotlights on past consoles and beloved videogame series, to gaming culture in general, PGC welcomes gamers from Perth and beyond and keeps the vibe casual, fun and funny.
Sometimes it's even professional. Sometimes.
Want to get to know our crew members? Check out our profiles below!
Better yet, why not join our crew? From time to time, PGC will be inviting one lucky fan to join our panel for a show! After all, PGC is a Perth based podcast, so YOU should be on it!
Interested? Contact us via our form below and tell us a little bit about who you are, why you want to join our podcast, and of course your favourite game of all time. We will be in touch!
JON
Hailing from the other side of Australia (isn’t this a Perth group, Jon?), Jon grew up on a steady diet of games on local arcades, NES, SNES, N64, GameCube, PC, Xbox One, PS4 and modern consoles, with the Nintendo Switch being his console of choice.
As a father of two, but always child at heart, Jon has committed to hosting a somewhat professional, mildly amusing gaming podcast for Perth's gaming community.
Just don’t listen to him talk for too long or you’ll rage quit from his nonsense arguments about how trash like Double Dragon III is better than every Zelda, Halo and Uncharted game ever made.
(Spoiler alert Jon, it’s still trash!)
PAT
Having played the original Diablo on PC as a child (umm.. questionable parenting there Pat!), Pat knew from that moment onward videogames would keep him hooked for rest of his life. Much like The Butcher did on his first playthrough! Ahh.. fresh meat!
Pat has also had a console in every videogame generation, and prefers these days to dabble hit up PC and mobile gaming on a regular basis. As an original PGC co-host with Jon, Pat has moved on but still keeps a steady eye on the crew's latest episodes.
Given his intense love for JRPGs, try not to ask Pat too many questions about Chrono Trigger or Final Fantasy or you'll never hear the end of it! Don't say we didn't warn you!
Johnny
Johnny traces his gaming roots back to the hands-on NES displays out the front of Aussie department stores in the early 1990s, mesmerized by Super Mario Bros (those were glorious times, Johnny).
The NES, and then the SNES, with their wide assortment of ninja themed and WWF games, were the perfect opportunity to flout his dad's then ban on watching martial arts flicks and pro-wrestling videos.
While he skipped the N64 as the allure of PC gaming in the 90s and early 2000s was too strong, Johnny returned to consoles by the end of the GameCube era, and is a huge fan of the Nintendo Switch.
His gaming experience and knowledge is incredibly extensive, ranging from Castlevania to Civilization, Star Wars, and of course, The Legend of Zelda.

FAVOURITE GAME
Let me ask you this, how many games do you have? What does your backlog look like? Are you caught up in the videogame news loop, keeping an eye out for what the latest Nintendo Direct, Xbox Developer Direct or Playstation State of Play will deliver? Hungry, no starving, for the latest trailer for the next Pokemon and Elder Scrolls game?
But what about all of the incredible games that have already come and gone all too quickly under the shadow of Mario, Elden Ring, or Minecraft?
That is what this series of articles, Gaming with Gratitude, is all about. We highlight a treasure trove of lesser known gems you might have missed out on that are available right now. No reviews, no critiques, just an in-depth rant about why these games are absolute bangers and deserved to be savoured for all that they are.
Oh, and by the way, we also love a good crossover with local businesses and attending gaming events. Keep an eye out for more articles to come!
