Gaming Point at Perth Airport

Gaming Point at Perth Airport

Exciting times people of Perth and beyond, the Perth Gaming Crew (PGC) has just come back from an exhilarating experience at the new Gaming Point entertainment centre, located at our very own Perth Airport!

If you haven't heard the news already, Gaming Point is an emerging company with plans to go global, and our very own international airport in Perth is their flagship location!

Ever been stuck with that dreaded four-hour layover right before your next big holiday? We have. Flight delays? Uggh, there’s truly nothing worse. And children, oh my goodness the children, they just can’t sit still. We hear you friend, and we tell you, Gaming Point is what you have been waiting for.

So what’s on offer? Well, walk into Gaming Point and you can check out an immersive, state-of-the-art Virtual Reality (VR) experience, which can hold 2-5 players at a time. To ensure a safe experience too, the VR escape room is restricted to children aged 12 and above, although children aged 10-11 can join in with parental consent and supervision.

And what an experience it is!

For the those of you who are just curious to find out what VR is all about, why not start with one of the shorter experiences like Laser Bots, shooting while you see the wonders of the moon? More time on your hand? Then maybe Dragon Tower is for you, or the Pirate’s Plague. There really is something for everyone on offer. You don’t even need to be a hardcore gamer, let alone a casual gamer, to have an incredible time. Hey, why not bring your grandma along? She’ll love it!

Our very own crew members, Jon and Pat, were fortunate enough to be invited by on-site manager Andrew and his colleague Shay to try out one of the many mind boggling, pulse racing escape room scenarios of their choice. Being absolute horror buffs, they couldn't help but take on the Haunted Mansion challenge. The lads had to use their wits (or lack thereof?) and a great deal of teamwork (let's be real, they may be great mates and work a good show together but there was a distinct lack of teamwork there) to solve a variety of puzzles, and keep their cool in multiple, haunting environments.

"I haven't had much VR experience, but it was all just so easy to pick up and play. At first I was sceptical at how immersive it would be, but after 15 minutes, I really felt like I was in that haunted mansion and I was desperate to escape!" says Pat.

"It was just so easy to set up and get into, and also so great having Andrew and Shay on standby to help out. The Haunted Mansion was just the bomb, I can’t wait to try the others out” says Jon.

In addition to the VR experiences, Gaming Point also offers a PC gaming lounge for those looking to relax with a more familiar experience and the latest games. Games range from longtime indie favourites like Among Us, to AAA best sellers like Hogwarts Legacy and Counter Strike. Whether you are a solo traveller, or with friends and family looking for a fun multiplayer experience, Gaming Point really does offer something for everyone.

Prices are also very reasonable, with the VR experiences ranging from $20 to $45 per person. The shorter games last for roughly 10 minutes, whereas the escape rooms can range from 30-45 minutes. Use of the PC lounge ranges from $20 for 30 minutes, $35 for one hour, $50 for two hours, to $60 for four hours.

Having just opened, Gaming Point is also offering discounts for those who get in first, so make sure you head over and say hi to Andrew and Shay!

PGC were also very lucky to be able to interview Andrew for a special episode of our podcast, which you can view on YouTube or listen to on Spotify this weekend.

Gaming Point is open now, and located upstairs in Terminal 1 at the Perth Airport. You don't even need to be travelling; just swing by the airport when you have some time to spare and check it out to experience their amazing VR set up, or simply just have a classic gaming session on the PCs!
